As a Catholic psychologist, my work with clients often involves “speaking a word to the weary that will rouse them” (Is 50:4). My hope and prayer is that as I share what stirs and encourages me in the Lord, it will stir and encourage you as well.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Many Christians in the West identify with these words as they apply to our era. The dark is becoming very dark indeed; but the light is also shining with increasing brightness. The “new springtime of evangelization” prophesied by Blessed John Paul II is at hand, gloriously evident for any with eyes to see. “Behold, I am doing a new thing”, says the Lord, “Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Is 43:19). We live in a time of perhaps unparalleled crisis – “danger and opportunity” – for the Church. So many are in danger of being lost; but the opportunities for evangelization are also profound. Let us be absolutely open to how the Lord would act and speak through us in this most exciting of times!
